Federal real estate company becomes investor in AMPEERS ENERGY

The Austrian Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) is now a further investor in AMPEERS ENERGY — the SaaS specialist for cross-sector and intelligent energy optimisation of real estate. At the same time, AMPEERS ENERGY becomes an implementation partner for BIG and supports them in the simple and economical decarbonisation of their real estate portfolio.

In view of the increasing demands of climate protection, BIG is taking on a pioneering role and is relying on the know-how and technology of AMPEERS ENERGY for the realisation of future-oriented energy concepts. Both companies plan a profound cooperation beyond the financial investment. The BIG Group is one of the most important real estate owners in Austria with a clear focus on universities and schools, offices and residential properties. AMPEERS ENERGY is a specialist for profitable CO2 reduction in the real estate industry — from software-based concept development to intelligent operational management and billing for electricity, heat and mobility.

The aim of the partnership between the two companies is to make the reduction of emissions from the property portfolio economically viable by combining integrated energy concepts with a focus on decentralised energy generation. Concrete projects are already underway and will be presented to the public in the near future. Furthermore, in addition to the company in Germany, the partners are founding an Austrian joint venture that will offer CO2 reduction solutions on the Austrian real estate market.
“In Austria, we are facing the challenge of operating our portfolio in a climate-neutral manner by 2040. As one of the largest real estate owners in the country, we have been investing in sustainable energy concepts for years. The investment in AMPEERS ENERGY is the next consistent step for BIG towards decarbonising our portfolio and, moreover, an attractive investment in an innovative company that has the right answers for the real estate industry to the climate issue,” explains Hans-Peter Weiss, CEO of BIG.

In addition to BIG, numerous other real estate companies in the D‑A-CH region already rely on the software solutions of AMPEERS ENERGY. Since the Fraunhofer spin-off was founded just two years ago, the company has already grown to 35 employees. The new framework conditions in the market are causing the demand for holistic solutions for the integration of renewable energies, heat supply and mobility to grow rapidly.

“We are simply turning the tables and making profitable business models out of the economic challenge of decarbonisation. After the recent political course-setting for the real estate sector, this is now practically without alternative. We are therefore delighted to have BIG, one of the biggest players in the Austrian market, as a partner at our side, which, in addition to the interest in our solutions, also strengthens our growth throughout the market. This also gives us a tailwind for our work in Germany, enabling us to support the structural change in the industry even more strongly,” says Dr. Karsten Schmidt, one of the founders, summing up the decision.
