Startup|Energy

The University of Freiburg and the Solar Energy Foundation (Freiburg) have launched the Startup|Energy initiative to promote regional and international exchange between startups in the field of decentralized, renewable energy supply in D-A-CH and East Africa.

The Solar Energy Foundation is responsible for the implementation of the Startup Accelerator in Africa. Startup|Energy focuses (initially) on the startup scene in the countries of the East African Community: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda. There is a network of partners who support the Startup|Energy initiative.

The first Energy Camp East Africa is currently taking place: five selected energy startups are receiving coaching from subject matter experts. A workshop will be held in Kampala from 27-29 September to refine the business models. At the final Startup|Energy Award, the startups present themselves to a jury of international investors and experts. The best start-up concepts are awarded with attractive prizes.

The main sponsors of the Energy Camp East Africa are GIZ and GET.invest.
