The Frankfurt-based software producer node.energy automates legal reporting requirements for about one third of all wind power plants in Germany. Commercial aspects of the operation of renewable energy plants are becoming increasingly important to customers.
The software solution “opti.node” developed by node.energy reaches the mark of 10,000 digitally recorded wind turbines in September 2022. With the help of the software-as-a-service solution, operators of wind turbines and ground-mounted photovoltaic systems can automatically and efficiently fulfill their statutory reporting obligations to the main customs offices and grid operators, even after the abolition of the EEG surcharge. This includes, above all, the applications and notifications for electricity tax.
The tax obligations of operators in particular are often very complex. This is accompanied by a fundamental change in the industry, as Matthias Karger, founder and managing director of node.energy, states: “In the past, wind turbine operators could focus primarily on the technical aspects, but today the commercial challenges are also increasingly in the foreground.”
Meanwhile, the current energy crisis necessitates a massive expansion of renewable energies. This will require a concerted effort by the entire energy industry. However, in addition to the lack of acceleration in approval procedures for construction, the bureaucratic hurdles in operation are proving to be the biggest brake on the path to a CO2-free energy system. This is where node.energy’s solutions come in, helping to professionally manage the strong growth by automating reporting requirements: “We support operators of renewable energy plants to be able to handle their business models in an automated, scalable and highly efficient way despite complex administrative requirements.”
In addition to the continuous improvement of the reporting processes mapped with the help of the software, node.energy is working on the expansion of further offers. Thus, node.energy now also offers automatic and legally compliant billing of PV direct deliveries, which are increasingly in demand in the tenant power model in industry and commerce.
