Self-con­tained pow­er sup­ply sys­tems could save up to USD 1.5 bil­lion in grid costs

Aus­tralia: Com­mu­ni­ties on the edge of the grid are increas­ing­ly at risk of debil­i­tat­ing pow­er out­ages due to dis­as­ters caused by cli­mate change. A new report quan­ti­fies the ben­e­fits of switch­ing from 244 munic­i­pal­i­ties to micro­grids or indi­vid­ual elec­tric­i­ty systems.
