BtX energy is the product of a research and development project of WS Wärmeprozesstechnik GmbH. The process patented by Dr. Joachim Alfred Wünning (founder of WS) for the clean gasification of biomass by adsorption of tar on the process’s own activated carbon was able to set standards for the gas purity of wood gases in the accompanying dissertation by Andy Gradel (prototype on the right in the picture). The process works completely without the use of additional filters or gas scrubbers. Together with WS Reformer GmbH and eflox GmbH, the idea for the upgrading of biogas through steam reforming was further developed in the WS company. The two applications now represent the pillars of BtX energy GmbH as a design office and the latest start-up with roots in WS. Here, the solutions are tailored and economically tailored for the customer in order to contribute their part to the energy transition.
BtX energy stands for clean and sustainable solutions in the course of the energy transition. BtX energy GmbH is defined as a spin-off from WS Wärmeprozesstechnik GmbH (winner of the German Environmental Award) and the Institute for Water and Energy Management of the Hof University of Applied Sciences by innovative thinking and a responsible use of resources.
As an innovative start-up for a green future, we are a member of the HYDROGEN research network of the BMWi, the Hydrogen Alliance Bavaria and the Biogas Association.
