Three startups from Kenya and Rwanda, who took part in the Startup|Energy Energy Camp in October 2024, presented their business models to a wide audience at a startup BBQ at the University of Freiburg i.Br:
- Temitope Oguntade – Founder of Chanels Innovations (Rwanda): Chanels is transforming energy management in sub-Saharan Africa by developing AI-enabled, multi-channel smart energy metering systems tailored to micro-utilities.
- Moses Nyakoyo – Founder of Kijani Testing (Kenya): Kijani Testing is the first and only laboratory in sub-Saharan Africa for certified product testing as well as field and market testing for manufacturers.
- Torooti Mwirigi – Founder of SunWater (Kenya): SunWater installs solar-powered water vending machines in underserved communities to provide reliable access to clean, affordable drinking water.
The African guests also had the opportunity for a lively exchange with Freiburg energy startups. They were accompanied by Gathu Kirubi, business coach from Startup|Energy (centre).
